We are thrilled to announce that Eddie Mair won the Gold prize for Best Interview at the Sony Radio Academy Awards 2012.

Of his BBC Radio 4 interview with Julie Nicholson, who lost her daughter Jenny in the 7 July attacks and who attended most days of the resulting inquest, the Judges said…

“Riveting, sensitive, poignant and memorable.  Well researched and structured, Mair's gentle questioning brings out the best in his subject and he establishes a powerful emotional connection.  A classic of its kind - Mair at his best."

We were also delighted that BBC Radio 3’s In Tune, presented by Suzy Klein, won the Bronze award for Best Music Programme.  The Judges said…

"This entry showed consistent range and energy, and was prepared to take risks, involving the listeners in musical experiences which were new to them, and engaging interviewees in memorable conversations."

Congratulations Eddie and Suzy!
