Dr Simon Reid-Henry

Dr Simon Reid-Henry is an award winning academic and writer. He took a double first from Cambridge University in 1999. After a period studying fine arts at the Ecole Brousse in Montpellier he returned to Cambridge to write a doctoral thesis on Cuba, which won international recognition for its contribution to the field of economic geography. Since 2004, he has lectured in geography at Queen Mary, University of London. His academic research spans contemporary international affairs, the geopolitics of health, urban studies and the history and philosophy of science.

Simon has written both features and news for the Times, Scotsman, TLS, Guardian and the Economist. FIDEL AND CHE: A REVOLUTIONARY FRIENDSHIP, published by Hodder & Stoughton in January 2009, adopts a parallel lives format to explore the contrasting characters of these two revolutionary leaders and the experiences which shaped their ultimately fateful visions of revolution. THE CUBAN CURE, a provocative take on pharmaceutical innovation from the margins of the global economy, is being published with Chicago University Press towards the end of 2009.
