Leanda de Lisle was educated at St Mary’s Convent Ascot. In 1982 she graduated from Somerville College Oxford having read history and in 1990 she completed an MBA – her thesis was on political marketing.  She lives in Leicestershire with her husband and three children.

Leanda has written columns for Country Life, the Sunday and Daily Express, The Spectator, the Guardian, the Daily Mail, the Sunday Telegraph, the New Statesman.

Leanda’s AFTER ELIZABETH, which focuses on the period between March 1603, when Elizabeth I died, to July 1603 when James VI of Scotland was crowned James I of England, was published by HarperCollins in 2005.  HaperCollins also published THE SISTERS WHO WOULD BE QUEEN: THE TRAGEDY OF MARY, KATHERINE AND LADY JANE GREY in January 2009.

Chatto & Windus will be publishing Leanda’s latest work TUDOR: A FAMILY HISTORY later this year, along with a new history of the CIVIL WAR in 2015.
