K.M. Grant studied History and Philosophy at the University of Glasgow, where she later went on to teach medieval history. She is married with three children and lives in Scotland. A children's author and freelance writer, Katie currently writes weekly columns for the Scotsman, the Scottish Daily Mail, and also for the Ecosse section of the Sunday Times.
Katie's first children's book, BLOOD RED HORSE, a historical novel and the first of the DE GRANVILLE TRILOGY, was published by Puffin in the UK in 2004 and followed by GREEN JASPER and then BLAZE OF SILVER, the final installment in the trilogy, in 2007. These titles are published by Walker Books in the US - visit www.degranville.com for more information. Puffin also published a stand alone book - HOW THE HANGMAN LOST HIS HEART - in 2006.
Katie is now working on THE PERFECT FIRE TRILOGY for Quercus. The first title, BLUE FLAME, was published in 2008 and was followed later in the same year by WHITE HEAT. The final title in the series, PARADISE RED, was published in October 2009.
