Recently, JAY MARTEL wrote and directed the award-winning independent feature, “Terrorists.” He has worked extensively as a writer, producer and presenter with the filmmaker Michael Moore, collaborating on the television programs “TV Nation” and “The Awful Truth” as well as the film “Fahrenheit 911.” He wrote the VH1 movie, “Warning: Parental Advisory,” and served as a producer/head writer on "Strangers With Candy" (Comedy Central). He has created numerous T.V. series for MTV, Nickelodeon and Comedy Central.
Seven of Martel’s plays have been produced in New York, including the critically acclaimed "Death in a
Landslide," which documents the election of Death to the U.S. presidency. Martel has been nominated three times for national Emmy awards and twice for Writer's Guild Awards.
The critically praised sketch-comedy show “Key and Peele,” for which Martel served as the executive
producer, premiered last month to the highest rating of any new show on Comedy Central in the last three years.
As a journalist and essayist, Martel has written for GQ, Mother Jones, TV Guide, Vogue, SPY, and served for six years as Contributing Editor at Rolling Stone.
For the last five years, Martel has written screenplays with Ian Roberts. CHANNEL BLUE is his first novel. He lives in Los Angeles with his wife, Sarah, and two children, Cleo and Julian.
