Lucy Riall is Professor of History at Birkbeck, University of London. She has held positions at the École Normale Supèrieure Paris, the Free University Berlin, Johns Hopkins University and the University of Cambridge, and in 2010-2011 is a visiting professor at the University of Freiburg.

 

Lucy's recent books include 'Garibaldi: Invention of a Hero' (Yale University Press) and 'Risorgimento: The History of Italy from Napoleon to Nation-State' (Palgrave).
