
Meira Chand
Meira Chand was born and educated in London. Her mother is Swiss and her father is Indian. She trained as a textile designer and married an Indian businessman before moving to Japan in 1962. She now lives in Singapore. Her previous novels include THE GOSSAMER FLY, LAST QUADRANT, THE BONSAI TREE, THE PAINTED CAGE, A CHOICE OF EVILS, HOUSE OF THE SUN, A FAR HORIZON and THE GODDESS OF PERILOUS PASSAGE. Her new novel, A DIFFERENT SKY, is an epic story based on the history of Singapore and was published by Harvill Secker in July 2010. Meira Chand was a judge for the 2002 Commonwealth Writers Prize.
